What awards and prizes are there for music students?

Awards in the music sector are presented by government agencies, foundations, non-profit organisations and private sponsors, often together with public and private engagement. Prizes and awards for music students recognise outstanding achievements in amongst the next generation of musicians.
In addition to the promotion institutions listed at the German Music Information Centre (miz), there are numerous general art and culture prizes, especially from cities, municipalities and cultural organisations, which are also awarded in the music category, either regularly or on a case-by-case basis.
