What awards and prizes are there in the music sector?

Awards in the music sector are presented by government agencies, foundations, non-profit organisations and private sponsors, often together with public and private engagement. Prizes and awards can honour artistic personalities and recognise outstanding achievements; they can also provide targeted support for young talent, or recognise the artistic work of amateur orchestras, choirs and groups.
In addition to the promotion institutions listed at the German Music Information Centre (miz), there are numerous general art and culture prizes, especially from cities, municipalities and cultural organisations, which are also awarded in the music category, either regularly or on a case-by-case basis.
