Tertiary-Level Schools of Music

At which tertiary-level schools can I receive an artistic education?

The tertiary-level schools of music in Germany offer a wide range of degree programmes with an artistic, educational and academic focus. Many of these institutions have developed additional course offerings in recent years, some in the form of new degree programmes and subjects, others in the form of courses, compact seminars and advanced degree programmes. Bachelor's and Master's degrees are offered, as well as doctorates in some cases.
The German Music Information Centre (miz) lists the 24 educational facilities that are members of the Conference of Rectors of German Conservatories (Rektor*innenkonferenz der deutschen Musikhochschulen )with their 28 locations, as well as the two other institutions with the status of a tertiary-level school of music at the universities of Mainz and Münster. Those interested in church music can also study at one of the eight tertiary-level schools of music for Protestant or Catholic church music.
