The German Music Information Centre (miz) lists special ensembles for contemporary music in Schleswig-Holstein, if at least half their members are professional musicians and if they are currently present in public musical life. Ensembles for contemporary music (also: new music) are usually sustained independently and dedicate themselves - with different focuses - almost exclusively to the music of the 20th and 21st centuries: from classical modernism to avant-garde music and experimental forms, e.g. in connection with theatre, dance, fine arts, film and other arts.
