How many orchestras are there in Germany?

There are many larger ensembles in Germany. They include 129 publicly financed orchestras (including eight chamber orchestras), military orchestras, police orchestras and wind orchestras, as well as other symphony orchestras and chamber orchestras. There are also a number of demanding youth ensembles with different instrumentations to promote young talent.
The German Music Information Centre (miz) lists a total of more than 300 orchestras.
