Die Internationale Vereinigung der Musikzentren (IAMIC) hat den Leiter des Deutschen Musikinformationszentrums Stephan Schulmeistrat einstimmig zum neuen Präsidenten gewählt. Er folgt auf Diana Marsh (Neuseeland), die das Amt seit 2021 innehatte. Schulmeistrat gehört dem IAMIC-Präsidium seit 2021 an, 2022 übernahm er die Position des Vizepräsidenten.
„Es ist mir eine große Ehre und Herausforderung, unsere internationale Gemeinschaft, in der wir das reiche und vielfältige Musikleben unserer Länder vereinen, in dieser besonderen Position mitzugestalten. Gemeinsam mit dem Präsidium möchte ich unser Netzwerk durch innovative Ansätze weiterentwickeln, um die kulturelle Bedeutung der Musik weltweit zu fördern“, sagt Schulmeistrat.
Deborah Keyser, CEO von Tŷ Cerdd – Music Centre Wales, wurde zur neuen Vizepräsidentin ernannt. Sie ist seit 2018 Mitglied des IAMIC-Präsidiums.
„Gemeinsam mit dem Präsidium möchte ich unser Netzwerk durch innovative Ansätze weiterentwickeln, um die kulturelle Bedeutung der Musik weltweit zu fördern.“
Schulmeistrat würdigte seine Vorgängerin Diana Marsh, CEO von SOUNZ, Centre for New Zealand Music, für ihr Engagement in einer Zeit herausfordernder Ereignisse wie der Corona-Pandemie und weltweiten Krisen. „Sie hat unser Netzwerk mit professioneller Hand und Weitblick geführt und die Mitglieder weiter zusammenrücken lassen“, so Schulmeistrat.

Das Deutsche Musikinformationszentrum (miz) unter dem Dach des Deutschen Musikrates ist der IAMIC seit seiner Gründung 1998 verbunden. 2022 richtete es die Jahrestagung der Musikinformationszentren in Hamburg, Bonn und Köln aus.

Stephan Schulmeistrat is the new President of the International Association of Music Centres
Deborah Keyser (Wales, Great Britain) becomes the new Vice-President
The International Association of Music Centres (IAMIC) has unanimously elected Stephan Schulmeistrat, Director of the German Music Information Centre, as its new President. He succeeds Diana Marsh (New Zealand), who had held the position since 2021. Schulmeistrat has been a member of the IAMIC Board since 2021 and took over the position of Vice President in 2022.
“I see it as a great honour and privilege to help shape our international community, in which we unite the rich and diverse musical life of our countries, in this special position. Together with the Board, I would like to further develop our network through innovative approaches in order to promote the cultural significance of music worldwide,” says Schulmeistrat.

Stephan Schulmeistrat thanked his predecessor Diana Marsh, CEO of SOUNZ, Centre for New Zealand Music, for her commitment in a time of challenging events such as the coronavirus pandemic and global crises. “She has guided our network with a professional hand and vision and has brought the members closer together”, says Schulmeistrat.

The German Music Information Centre (miz), under the umbrella of the German Music Council, has been closely associated with IAMIC since its foundation in 1998. In 2022, it organised the annual conference of Music Information Centres in Hamburg, Bonn and Cologne.
