Music festivals have a strong impact on musical life in Germany. They also include several festivals dedicated to musical theatre.
Of the large number of festivals in Germany, the German Music Information Centre (miz) lists a limited selection of events in the professional and semi-professional sector. These take place on a regular basis; Their programmes are also predominantly music-driven and stand out from the normal concert offerings through international aspects or special thematic focuses. The numerous music festivals for of instrumental and vocal amateur music making are not considered.
