Germany has an extraordinarily rich landscape of professional orchestras. In addition to hundreds of independent ensembles, 129 publicly-financed orchestras currently provide a wide-ranging concert offer. The map shows the various types of publicly funded orchestras, including information on their sizes as well as on mergers and disbandments since 1990.
