The section on musical activities abroad starts by setting out the intermediary organisations appointed and funded by the Federal Foreign Office. Under Further Institutions dealing with Musical Activities Abroad can then be found organisations, either state or privately sponsored, that are responsible for certain intermediary, exchange or documentation functions. In addition, and subject to the availability of information, foreign cultural institutes in the Federal Republic are listed. The work of these institutes varies in the emphasis they give to music.
